About the Author

Yvonne Burton is a children’s author dedicated to creating joyful, meaningful stories that celebrate everyday life through a culturally rich lens. Born in Antigua and later settling in the United States, Yvonne brings a unique blend of Caribbean heritage and urban American experience into her storytelling, shaping narratives that feel both personal and widely relatable.

As a mother to a young boy, Yvonne became increasingly aware of the lack of representation in children’s books—particularly stories that reflect the beauty, imagination, and everyday adventures of Black children. Wanting her child, and others like him, to see themselves reflected on the page, she began creating her own stories and coloring books that center Black characters in warm, engaging, and empowering ways.

Her work focuses on simple yet meaningful moments—first days of school, friendships, family bonds, and small adventures—designed to inspire confidence, creativity, and a strong sense of identity in young readers. Through her books, Yvonne hopes to help children feel seen, valued, and proud of who they are.

When she’s not creating, Yvonne enjoys spending time with her family and continuing to build stories that celebrate culture, imagination, and the beauty of childhood.
